Leadership Education
We at Leaf Group of NY believe in implementing servant leadership across all businesses in our portfolio. This practice, which is rooted in military leadership training, is a fundamental shift in the common understanding of leadership. Rather than telling people what to do and making use of a hierarchical power structure to coerce people to do things, we educate leaders about the true nature of leadership and enable them to inspire and lead by example. Sales Education, Enablement, and Management
The managing partner of Leaf Group of NY, Mr. Ip, has demonstrated excellence in sales operations.
Mr. Ip was hired by a services firm as a full-time consultant and regional manager to lead an international business expansion from London to New York. The target was to break even within 90 days.
Despite the fact that the expansion started during a dry season, Mr. Ip achieved profitability inside of 60 days through end-to-end ownership of all sales operations. Mr. Ip recruited, educated, and enabled a commission-only sales team comprised of individuals with no sales experience.
“It was crucial that the recruitment process attract the right kind of person,” said Mr. Ip. “The kind who would excel in such a position. At the same time, I had to create and implement a sales education and training program that was responsive to each individual’s unique strengths, motivations, and communication styles.”
Mr. Ip interviewed sales staff and analyzed the existing sales processes, from recruitment to onboarding and ongoing management. After his evaluation, he implemented end-to-end improvements.
The result was that fresh college graduates with no job experience were able to generate enough sales revenue to exceed breakeven on the operational costs of the expansion 32 percent ahead of schedule. The new sales team enjoyed a 212% faster time-to-competence and generated 136% more revenue than teams that had been in operation 2-3 years. He generated a 208% ROI.
